Gay Marriage, Round Two

These days everything is compared to a sporting event. If I hear one more analogy comparing a sporting event to the Obama/Clinton race, I'll gag.

Nobody, as far as I know, has compared the fight for marriage equality to a sporting event. So I think I will make an analogy as I gag...
Its like boxing. First round went to Newsom. Now the second round goes to Newsom.

What really irks me is the media spin on the California Supreme Court's decision. The sound bite generally has been "Gays are celebrating, but may be short-lived."

The fact is six of the seven Judges were appointed by Republicans. I read their bios at
http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/courts/supreme/justices.htm and held out the slimmest hope that something positive would sway the Justices. Thank goodness that is what happened. How could they not see something that was happening right in front of their faces? Its called LOVE.
Can you believe that there are still people who'd deny us that? Hopefully, if there is a measure on the ballot this November in California that would ban and nullify this historic decision, it won't matter because the voters will be on our side this time. Arnold has already said he respects the Supreme Court decision and won't endorse an amendment to the constitution, so there.

Temo and I got hitched when Newsom first acknowledged that the current interpretation of the constitution was unfair subsequently breaking down the barrier and allowing us to marry. Four years later the brave California Supreme Court agreed with him. (And they're not activist Judges as Bush would have you believe.) If you want you can read the opinion.

As for the Presidential election this fall and how this may rile up the base. So what!!!! McCain is going to lose so bad. So what if the gay marriage issue galvanizes the so called "religious right" and they vote for McCain. Obama has galvanized the country and the Democratic party. The Dems are unstoppable this fall.

Mariah Married? I Hope Not...(unless it's true love)

Mariah Carey married a man who is 10 years her junior. His name is Nick Cannon. He is a Rap artist and a television personality. A success in his field. They have been dating for one month. Nick was engaged to another singer only three weeks after they met but recently broke off the engagment. There are rumors that Nick Cannon is gay because of his "intimate" association with Reginald VelJohnson, the African-American actor of Die Hard 2 fame. For all we know he may be a long time family friend who does know him personally. It's ridiculous to think that ones close association with a gay person makes them gay enough to start the rumor mill going.

Ha!
